E’ scomparso Giacobbe Perri, fondatore dell’Ara. Così lo ricorda Nadia Donato

E’ morto Giacobbe Perri, fondatore dell’Ara, l’Associazione recupero alcolisti, protagonista dal 2000 sino ad oggi di tante battaglie di grande impegno sociale in Calabria e in tutto il Paese.

Ed ecco il ricordo dell’attuale presidente dell’Associazione di volontariato, Nadia Donato

E’ con profonda amarezza che comunico, non solo agli associati dell’Ara ma anche ai tantissimi che lo hanno conosciuto, che nei giorni scorsi, dopo un breve malattia, ci ha lasciati inaspettatamente a 61 anni Giacobbe Perri, per gli amici Bebè, fondatore della nostra Associazione.

Giacobbe si trovava in Ucraina, dove viveva da qualche anno insieme alla sua seconda moglie, Hellen. La salma arriverà nei prossimi giorni in Italia, nella sua adorata Lamezia Terme, dove verrà sepolto insieme ai cuoi cari genitori.

La figura di Giacobbe è nota ai più per la sua grande attività nel sociale, in Calabria e in tutta Italia dove ha portato avanti iniziative di rilievo.

Ci piace ricordare per esempio l’incontro con Fiaba, associazione nazionale contro le barriere architettoniche, i tanti incontri organizzati per i giovani in tutta Italia con le forze dell’Ordine, gli anni del servizio civile ed il suo conosciuto libro sull’alcolismo.

Dopo avere lottato con decisione contro lo spettro di questa dipendenza e proseguendo nella sua cura della malattia, negli anni 2000 si è dedicato agli altri sino ai suoi ultimi giorni.

Con l’Ara è stato accanto a numerose famiglie in Calabria e non solo. Ha fondato sedi in tutto il Paese ed in questi ultimi anni all’estero, come presidente onorario, portava avanti la sua attività instancabilmente anche oltre i confini italiani.

Oggi ci piace pensarlo con grande affetto, mentre con la sua solita irrequitezza si starà già impegnando oltre le nuvole insieme agli angeli per il recupero di qualcuno che è stato troppo solo.

L’ironia che lo distingueva e nello stesso tempo la sua tenacia ci consente di pensare a lui così, per potergli dire ancora grazie per quello che ha fatto qui, su questa terra per tutti noi. Buon viaggio Bebè, e che la terra ti sia lieve.
